Summer has arrived. The heat is upon us. Everyone that I talk to is making plans to spend time in the closest pool. As for me, I'm not really someone who likes to spend a lot of time in the water but I do love lounging around near the pool. To do that comfortably I need a pool that has great furniture around it.
Good pool furniture must have a few different qualities. First and foremost, it must be comfortable. You're there to relax! It must also be easy to maintain since it's going to get wet and dirty from being outside. And of course it's nice if it's also appealing enough to add to the exterior decor of the yard where the pool is located.
Choosing good pool furniture isn't easy. And once you've chosen that furniture, you need to be able to place that furniture properly around the pool so that it adds to the pool's design instead of taking away from it. When it's done right, it creates a little piece of heaven where you can rest for an entire summer!

| Buying a whole set of furniture is a great choice when designing around a pool. Here we've got the option of a couch or chairs and we've got a matching table to go along with it. Make sure to choose materials that do fine when wet. |
Mismatched furniture can work well outside too, though. I love the color choices here - the seating is bright but it's not too bold. The table is a little bit too simple; I'd prefer something a bit larger to go with the bulkiness of the seating. I do like how it's all placed between the warmth of the fireplace and the coolness of the pool, though.

What's great about this pool furniture is its placement. It's a simple pair of lounge chairs under an umbrella but it's placed off in a corner on the far side of the pool. Surrounded by plants and the pool itself, this placement allows you to really feel like you're getting away from the business of your home when you're sitting out here. It lets your pool become a vacation spot.

I love the simplicity of this design. There are two basic outdoor chaise lounges for relaxing by the pool. They are straightforward in design and coloring so they don't distract from the beauty of the pool. The umbrella over just one chair gives you a choice between tanning and sitting in the shade. The only thing that I think might be better here would be a third chaise in the space that separates the pool from the hot tub.

Here we've got a pool furniure layout that will make you feel like you're at a retreat in your own backyard. There are places to lounge. There are tables to sit and dine at. There are optional umbrellas. If you're someone who entertains frequently during the summer and you love to have pool parties then this is a good choice.
Everybody seems to think that you have to use typical pool furniture around the pool. However you can use unique furniture pieces to give your pool area more style. The pillow laden lounge space here makes me think that a bunch of beanbag chairs or other low-sitting lounge-style chairs would be terrific around a pool.

Convenience is something that's important when choosing pool furniture. You want furniture that is easy to move around so that you can sit as far away or close to the pool as you want. I love the brightly-colored furniture-on-wheels that we see here.

In my opinion, a table is one of the most important pieces of furniture to have by the pool. It's a great place for enjoying iced tea and fresh fruit on a hot summer day. The plates and other accessories you choose to use will add to the design aesthetic so make sure you also do some shopping for great outdoor dishes.
Talk about unique style! This space-age pool design is a little too wacky for me but I know of some homes that could pull it off. I do love the idea of using really unique furniture to create a theme around a pool. And I love the pillows on the floor.

| If you're lucky enough to have an indoor pool then you can decorate it with modern touches including a television to watch while you relax. The large outdoor plants here bring the feeling of nature to the indoors. |

Becky Harris Oh how I wish I had a pool. I saw some gorgeous ones on a modern house tour this weekend and now have serious pool envy! I'd even settle for that inflatable thing Alex and Simon put in their backyard on the Real Housewives of NYC...

patiofurniturelover06 Oh my god... that pool is amazing... I want it but I can't afford it and I don't have the space. Maybe I should divert my attention to garden furniture. I've got vast space in the backyard. what do you think?
