This photo shows how polished basketweave tile can look both woven and like a dotted pattern, depending on how the light hits it. The shiny surfaces of the individual pieces have a wonderful reflective quality. Popular stone combinations are Cararra marble with gray or black squares, or "dots."

Here is a warm-tone basketweave mosaic in honey onyx with black dots. The small pieces and the many grout lines provide traction underfoot, making it perfect for a shower floor. It is shown with a light travertine tile.

Basketweave tile looks very different when dark stone is paired with light dots. This is pistachio, a limestone embedded with tiny fossils, paired with a white stone called Thassos. Don't the dots seem to recede?

This one, pistachio with black dots, neither advances nor recedes.
A good penetrating sealer only needs to be applied every few years. The key is to use a PH neutral stone cleaner that will not strip the sealer. Most cleaners available at the grocery store are too strong.
Love all the basketweave, very pretty.
@ patscats2, that is a standard size tub. It just looks small because of the camera perspective. Also the alcove hides part of it.

Sorry for all the reflections in the picture, but hopefully you get the idea.
Second, what travertine size for the shower wall would be considered old world meditterean?
angle. None of the pictures show that. Is it not possible? My tile is sandstone....I had to pick up a stock tile because of timing. My original desire was herringbone, and I thought the angle would satisfy that. I love all of your bathroom. Mine is small..40 sq feet, but I'm excited to see how it turns out.
