A woman I once worked with was obsessed with green and plants in her home. She was a former haberdasher and bag maker, and wanted to feel a part of nature while working from her Santa Monica, CA home.
There was something fresh about her, and fresh about the idea of bringing nature in, and not just in plants. Bringing the outside in doesn't have to be messy, to be Jane-meets-Tarzan. Such spaces can maintain a flora and fauna vibe while also retaining a chic by keeping these hints in mind:
*keep the lines of the furniture and details smooth and light to keep the room from being too bulky.
*use real plants to add dimension and freshness--and remember that different plants add different aesthetics.
*just like the random order of nature itself, vary the pieces throughout your room to keep the look light and diversified.
*keep in mind what different shades of green will do to a space--take a look at the different shades below--the difference, say, between the bathroom and the antique couch.
No matter how you do it, bringing a little nature in freshens any space, especially for this new season. Happy spring!
