Guest Picks: Gild the Lily — or the Home
Hank and Hunt
Everywhere I turn, I see shiny bits. Like a magpie, I like to hide gilded goodies in every nook of my house. Here are a few of my favorite picks. Use these sparingly, for you don't want to look like King Midas. — Jenny from Hank and Hunt
Modern Clip Lamp, Gold - $59
Use a gold gumball lamp in the office. Simple yet shiny, this is great for task lighting.
Hollywood Regency Gold Table Lamp by Gallivanting Girls - $145
Vintage lamps bring interest and come in a range of shapes that are hard to find today. Plus, they're usually about an eighth of the cost.
Vertical Garden Lamp - $998
Gilded leaves would be so pretty in the evening, casting shadows on the walls.
Libations Bar Cart - $599
This cart's vintage vibe makes it perfect for its intended use as a bar cart, but you could switch it up a bit and use it as an entry console or a bedside table.
Abate Mirror - $298
I love the shape of this. While it is technically silver, I think it is a warm silver and would be gorgeous over the bar cart!
French Chic Gold Table Lamp by Gallivanting Girls - $65
This is a vintage lamp with an awesome shape. It is super feminine.
Ballerina Bowl - $50
This shiny bowl could rest on my console and collect keys and doodads. It would be a pretty spot for the lot.
Gold Pig Bookends - $29.95
Isn't he just the cutest? It looks like the high-priced piggie banks on design blogs, but I think he's got more charm.
Parisian Side Table - $199
This is perfect — it's shiny, but not the in-your-face kind. I've been looking for a small table to put next to my side chair. Remember: Every seat should have a table of some sort.
Large Brass Trunk by Gallivanting Girls - $375
Vintage things are always the coolest. Use this as a coffee table, and your living room will be sufficiently blinged out.
Sambonet Imagine Gold 5 Piece Place Setting
I'm dying to find some pretty gold flatware. I like the traditional shape of this set.
Stump Doorstop - $39
Here's a really cool door stop in silver — I know, it's not gold. A DIY trick: Get a stump and spray paint it (but I didn't say that).
Woodland Park Lion Figurine - $50
I am obsessed with gilded lines. They remind me of the '50s and '60s, and this lion is no different. No one will ever know he's not vintage.
Between a Rock Lamp Base, Gold - $79
Geometrics are still hot. Mix it with gold, and you have a classic that will last beyond the next color trends.
Allegro Copper 18" Pillow - $36.95
All sparkle should have different tones and textures, and the same is true for gold. This copper pillow is perfect for the couch.
Bronze Stars - $22
This is awesome and I need it. It's one of the pieces that first caught my eye.
Studio 54 Vintage 1970s Gold Ball Light by The Magick Attic - $900
This vintage charm looks like something right out of DwellStudio, doesn't it? They don't make 'em like this any more.
Michael Aram 'Lemonwood' Coasters - $99
Coasters are cool, especially if they are gold. Wouldn't these make a great hostess gift?
Gold-Dipped Flatware - $38
I think the touch of gold on these makes them more modern.
