One of my great failings as a home owner and renovator is that I totally ignore my home's "private" spaces. If guests don't see it, it's barely decorated.
That is totally true for my master bathroom, which was renovated, pretty much to perfection, over a year ago. We finished the renovation, painted the walls kelly green, then left it alone. Sans art. And that makes me very sad, indeed.
I come from a long line of people who believe that the bathroom isn't just a good place for art - it's a great place. I'm failing them right now. So this ideabook is in their honor:

I absolutely love the style of these simple line drawings - especially the one in the upper right that's a pair of guy's underpants. Funny! And how great is the chalkboard instead of a mirror? Not that practical, of course (unless the opposite wall is mirrored), but awfully cute.
One quick note: when framing these paintings (and the photos and other paintings in pictures below), it's really important to do a good job. The humidity in a bathroom can ruin art, and nobody wants that to happen. It even makes sense to rotate the art out occasionally.

I like bathroom art that's placed on a shelf - something about the look just appeals to me. I also like that it's easy to switch out the display.

Rough Linen Re. picture 5: I hung a mirror low in the bathroom so my little children could get into the habit of checking, but my husband got teased (a lot) that it was for him and potential wardrobe malfunctions (not a bad idea actually).

Karen Evans I am so guilty of neglecting the private spaces in my home. These are all such great ideas that I'd like to steal a few of them for the public spaces in my home. Of course I'd take full credit for coming up with the ideas myself!

Karen Evans I painted these large diamonds on my powder room wall when we first built our home. At that time they were a different color. It's easy to tape them off and repaint when I tire of the color.

tundrarose I stretch fabric over canvas for quick, relatively inexpensive artwork in the bath, and no worries regarding humidity. There are many beautiful fabrics available, so it's easy to change the fabric to reflect different seasons, color schemes, etc.

jacque i love the idea of putting up family photos in the bathroom. I've never really been into shower curtains as art, but that is a cool idea for renters!

Fine Art & Portraits by Laurel If money isn't an object (ahem!) you can upholster your powder room walls and have them painted to harmonize with the woven copper panels. Ceiling is antiqued with a trompe l'oeil border and central medallion.
