The transition between spaces should feel natural and easy, like simply stepping from one room to the next. The use of simple, clean lines and natural textures like wood or stone enhances the feeling of creating outdoor 'rooms' on the patio. Modern patio designs also incorporate elements for entertaining, such as barbecue and cooking areas as well as fireplaces and elegant firepits. dgersh I am looking for a recommendation for composite deck materials. Among GeoDeck, Fiberon, and TimberTech. Anyone have any thoughts which way I should go? The deck will be in the Northeastern US, and will have a southern exposure to the sun. Thanks!

Etienne Boulanger Thank you for this! I am currently doing research to design the patio here in Montreal and it is not easy to find someone that makes beautiful custom wood decks. In an article in Elle Decor I found an article on the guy who does patio design custom red cedar. He call'd Stephan Beaulieu and photographs of its buildings are quite nice. If you have any other addresses of people who build wood decks in Montreal, thank you to add them here. I'm looking for! :-) Ciao.
