Coffee tables are standard fare in living and family rooms. But if you're looking for something a bit out of the ordinary, may I suggest lucite? Lucite coffee tables are a great solution for just about any space.
Although tables made of lucite tend to look fairly contemporary, they can be easily at home even in a traditional space. Due to their transparent finish, they also do well in spaces that are more compact.

Anyhow, thanks for posting this ideabook, it was perfect timing as I was just thinking of trying one of these babies as a side/occasional table. Now I'm even more convinced it's the way for me to go!
If the edge of the material is green - It's not Lucite: It's Glass.
The tables in pix 2, 4, 6 and 8 are definitely glass.
