Guest Picks: Steamer Trunks That Go the Distance
Timeworn, antique inspired or looking brand new, these steamer trunks are durable and versatile for storage and as eclectic tables
Extra storage: Check. Extra chic: Double check. Extra accent table: Triple check. Whether you are looking for storage, an antique embellishment or just a different take on a coffee or end table, vintage steamer trunks (or their modern equivalents) will accomplish all these objectives with panache.
Options abound, from uber luxe Louis Vuitton and Goyard versions found at auction houses (which I love to daydream about adding to my home), to the pleasantly affordable, worn-in vintage and refurbished trunks via Etsy. If you prefer to wear in the item yourself, you can find brand-new and equally tasteful models too. — Lani from Mon Petit Chou Chou

I thought I had done a great job in putting things in logical ez to remember

"Does anyone know how to refurbish old trunks, or where to send them to be refinished? This ideabook has inspired me to fix up my great-grandmother's trunk (mint metal, brass, papered insides) and display it, rather than keep it in the basement."
I have refinished/restored 2 trunks I inherited and 1 that I found on Craigslist. There are 2 websites where I found hardware, leather handles, hinges, locks, lining, nails, and even tips and how-tos. I think both will refurbish if you'd rather. One is shenandoahrestoration dot com and the other is hardwareofthepast dot com. Oh, the eye-candy on the first one in their before and after pages...Makes me want to find more to restore!
