The Vintage Laundry Shack

I'm an Austin-Texas-based vintage collector and textile enthusiast, I have a passion for vintage textiles, furnishings and eclectic accessories. I have a great appreciation for elegant, glamour-puss, screen diva items like glittery chandeliers, tufted silk chairs and vintage couture. My hoards of vintage items now make up a collection for my website, http://www.thevintagelaundry.biz, and my online store on Etsy http://www.thevintagelaundry.etsy.com. I began my business in 2001, with my online shop opening in 2007. I had a large expanse of wall in my living room, so, I decided it needed a patterned treatment to give it some interest. So, I used painters tape and to slightly different pinks to create the octagon pattern you see here. I don't have much experience hanging wall paper and frankly, didn't have the budget for as much as I would have needed to cover this wall. It cost about $50 in supplies and about 2 days of taping and Voila! I have a step by step post on my blog explaining the process. http://www.thevintagelaundress.blogspot.com/

Nanette Lepore's feminine flair that she exhibits in her retail boutiques is reflected in my home. Her pink wood floors, vintage chandeliers, and tufted banquettes really made me giggle. As a consequence, most of the furniture in my home is tufted within an inch of it's life! She has been a long-time favorite of mine. She
uses a lot of tailoring touches - and I dig that. I saw an article in Elle Decor that featured her home and was excited to see that the same linen that I chose to upholster my French daybed was used as curtain treatments in her living room. I posted a story on my blog about my design heroes where you can see her living room and mine side by side.
