safbham I am working with an architect... the battle is form vs. function... the architect is enraptured with form, and I, function first and then form. I suspect the architect seeks the house to be the decoration and I the house to be the stage for the decoration. As it is working out, the plans are a marriage of both.

nnicolaisen Luckily, my husband's employer (an amazing contractor company) is best friends with an architect. They work together as a team, and the architect has NO building experience so I know he takes advice from his friend the builder. Together, they have designed buildings that have won awards and been shown in design magazines. So, obviously, this is not completely true, and thank god it isn't!

Barber Builder's On Tues. we did the demo on our newest project. A second story mst. bed extension. Guess what? Roof loads didn't match drawings. Wed. 8:10 called Engineer. Wed. 9:30 Engineer and I met, redesigned, and come up with new plan. Wed. 12:00 lumber list is made and ordered. Wed. 3:00 field revision is E-mailed to my phone. Thurs. 7:30 lumber is delivered and framers are on the job. There are still contractors and Engineers / Architects out there that work very well together. Thank you Shawn Pierce for keeping our project moving forward and on schedule!
