our new home
RG: I like this powder room. I would chose a different accent color, maybe something like carrot-red/orange. MS: this wallpaper is very fun. Can't believe you are suggesting something red. :) RG: More orange than red :) In general, I think that orange accents on sage-green work very well. (See the very first picture in our ideabook.)
RG: I could probably get on board with this.
RG: yes, please. Esp. the ocean view.
The backsplash tile is very different, I'm not sure it is my favorite but I liked the colors in the kitchen overall. RG: Light-grey with wood works well. I have not seen much fishbone parquet flooring in this country. Overall, not my fav pattern, but it's an old house and it works there.
I like how they opened this to the outside, I'm not fond of the pink chairs RG: Wow?! This is great.
I think this would be better with wood floors. RG: Probably. As much as I love the high-tech German influence, I am worried that it lacks warmth. Wood floors would help. The stone accent wall helps as well.
This is a stunning house, I would love to discuss. RG: This picture does look stunning, indeed. Cannot wait to see the rest with you.
I could get in board with this I think with a slightly more interesting backsplash RG: Probably. But we could do better. I like how the backsplash ties the two colors together. I don't like the details on the upper cabinets, the hardware, and the counter top. But could get on board with the overall color scheme.
There is something appealing about these colors. I like the other photos if the house as well. RG: I totally agree! Looking at this picture makes me happy. They created great atmosphere: soothing, light, and fun. Great job on combining all the different materials as well. Would love to look at the house with you.
MS: interesting ceiling, I like the floors RG: I like what they've done with the ceiling. Not sure about the floor though.Looks like very basic tile to me.
MS: I like the tile RG: I agree. It could work with many colors/finishes.
The wood wall and the floor. NOT the cabinets. RG: Love the wood wall! A lot! It might go well with dark wood lower cabinets. Though might be hard to match. It could also go well with the dark grey cabinets from above.
The floor is interesting RG: I think it's some sort of terrazzo tile. It just does not work at all with the crown moldings and other details of the roof.
I like the reclaimed wood, I do wonder how it would hold up over time to the water. RG: I love this bathroom. Agree with you on the warmth/look and share your concerns about durability.
I like the dark grey much better than black, and I like the wood. Not sure about lower seating with stools. RG: I do like grey. It is an interesting combo of colors (it is actually not wood, but granite (or some other stone)). Yeah, not a fan of the sitting bench either.
RG: Interesting idea for extra storage space above the mirror.
RG: I like the tiles. The folding bench seems like an interesting touch. But the shower seems to lack space for shampoo, etc. MS: I like these tiles a lot. There are cutouts for shampoo on the right side, aren't there? RG: You are right. Did not see them on my iPhone last night. Even better!
RG: Another example of dark wood & white modern materials that I think works well. Plus, I like the dog :) MS: This needs color. Why is the backsplash white? This is too stark for me.
RG: I like the combination of wood with glass tiles and the roof makes it a very interesting room. Don't like the bar stools through. MS: I like a lot of things about this kitchen, the bamboos cabinets, and the stained concrete floor in particular. I think it may need more cabinets, though, and maybe a more vibrant color for the glass tiles.
RG: We should look up the whole project: Mid-Century Rambler Reinvention. The house design is great.
RG: I like the use of wood, stucco, and stone.
RG: I like bamboo cabinets (at least this is what it looks like to me). They are a prefect combination of traditional warmth with modern materials. In particular, I like the horizontal grain that lends itself nicely to modern design. It also works well with blue/green-ish glass tiles or the blue/green-ish pain accents they have here.
RG. I love the fireplace and I love the rug. I also the wood accents that tie everything together.
RG: This is a good example of combining wood with other materials.
I would like this better with some color in the backsplash. RG: This is not my fav. See the comment in the next picture that I lick much better.
RG. This is not my favorite. It seems dark... I also don't like the idea of trying to match the cabinets to the wood floors. I would entertain the idea of putting back splash tiles on other walls, but I do not think it works here.
RG: I find this french country-style-esque design perfect for a beach house.I am not sure this would be my first choice for our house. But I do not hate it :)
RG: I like the idea of colored art.
RG: To be honest, I actually strongly dislike this one. I do not like the wood cabinets. They are basically the same ones I have in my kitchen now, with the detailing around the edges. I do not like the shiny black counter tops. Plus, the tiles have too much black in them. Overall, I don't like the atmosphere of the space, the colors, and the design. The only thing that I find interesting is the idea of having a tiled wall as an accent.
RG: I really like the thick counter top and how it is tied into the kitchens frame. I also like the grey/brown cabinets. They seem warm to me. Probably because of the grain/texture. As you probably would have guessed, I am not a fan of the red. I do not think the red works well with the floor. It looks almost like when a person with a lot of red pigmentation wears a red sweater.
RG: This is basically the kind of kitchen I had in La Jolla (but for the wood cabinets on the sink side). I think I prefer something warmer for our home together.
RG: I like the lamp, the light, and the simplicity of the room. Having a wood wall could work as an accent. However, I am not fond of it in combination with the reddish wood floors.
RG: This is the kind of mid-century modern build that I like a lot. The slate on the outside is a very nice touch for the east coast.
RG: I like these material a lot. However, the sink itself seems rather unpractical.
RG: I like this house a lot. Much better than the one to the left. I think it perfectly uses wood, stone, and stucco to combine lightness and warmth in a modern design.
RG. Yes, I do like this house. But this is something we would have to build from scratch.
RG: I find this too much. Too many wood colors (light, dark, beach table top, and the floors) Also, not a huge fan on pink, but I like the hood and the full back splash idea.
RG: Cute :)
RG: I like this combination of dark wood with white. The materials work well together (ans work well with the style) and create both a sense of lightness and warmth.
