| Fabulous notion of having a stainless steel farmhouse sink in the kitchen island instead of the kitchen counter. The mere concept opens up a world of possibilities for your kitchen's functionality. |

| Just as we saw a play on materials in the classic kitchens, switching the same sink form to be cast in concrete takes on an industrial modern flair. |

| I have never seen the farmhouse sink in bathrooms, and in a double vanity no less, but the effect is spectacular and worth noting for the future.

...that sink and the countertops look more like Soapstone to me - particularly considering Soapstone is rather prevalent in New England where this is located.
(and the beautiful veining in the face stone)
These things are heavy and base unit must be constructed to carry that weight. Also. the inside corners sould be "coped" to the sink for tight seal. As many of these products are hand made, the outside surface is wavy and the corner radius not equal side to side. While they look great and add alot of character, they are not to practical. Water tends to spill on the face and damage doors or cabinetry below. This is why we prefer to install in face frame cabinets with inset doors.

Great article. I love my farmhouse sink!!
Attached pix show it being installed & finished - and you will note in one of pix that pussy cats love to explore them.
I love your kitchen! All of it. The cat is cute, too. I live in metro LA, too, and have been trying to figure out who I'd have put in a farmhouse sink, and whether I'd be able to modify my existing cabinet or need something new.
I live in the eastern San Gabriel Valley; does your installer service this area? Thanks-
would you please glance at the photos and tell me if you can think of ANY solution to the alignment problem?
thank you very much!
