Exterior Views of Additions that I like - Shared
Here are a sampling of exterior views of additions that I like. Each is different. It is hard to tell what the common elements are. But perhaps these features are noteworthy: 1) Stepped or layered exterior either via roof structures, or other ways. 2) Scale and form is not bulky. 3) Overall look is small relative to surrounding, and somewhat magical. 4) The lower level is not dwarfed and made unlivable by upper story expansion. 5) The lower level becomes a pretty semi-outdoor space.
notice the roof for porch is metal
Nice addition. Interesting.
See the various types of addition areas. All stepped. Beautiful.
Stepped. Cottage style (cape cod)
This is the rear addition with back porch.
Corner window. Idea for our training the eye?
love this. why? not bulky.
This is nice too. Why? Not bulky.
Clean. So symmetrical.
This is nice too.
love this cottage email.
Quaint! May not at all be what applies to us, since upstairs room is probably dark. Just here as an example of a certain vibe.
Cute little bay with brackets. Quaint overall feel.
Front Porch Ideas
Love this wood shake look over the brick. Could we do this over the brick on the gable side?
Could we ever possibly have an asymmetrical roof over the front entry-way, almost like the entry to a "Tree house"? This picture is not at all what I am asking for, just the asymmetrical (tudor-style) roof is something that immediately says welcome.
just looking at.gable window
