Idea of the Week: Float Shelves in Front of Windows
Let in Light — and Let Guests Easily Find the Wine Glasses
The debate around floating shelves will always rage on, with one side embracing the open look and the other totally grossed out by the dusty dishes it can cause. If you're thoroughly one or the other, I likely can't convince you otherwise. But if you like the look and just don't have the wall space for it, this idea could quickly make you a convert to the open shelving camp.
When you're low on cabinet space but don't want to block a window, a few floating shelves can have you covered. Not only do they make it easy for guests to help themselves to a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, they can be placed directly in front of windows without blocking any light. Try saying that about a wall of cabinets!
