Screened Porch Ideas

My husband and I have decided we want to add a screened porch to our house so I'm starting the process of collecting photos of things that I like. I always recommend my clients do the same thing. There's nothing better than having an arsenal of ideas in the wings. When you come to a glich in your plan and have to come up with a new idea, my picture file is where I always start looking for a new idea.

We think we want a fireplace on the porch...not sure whether the grill will go in the porch or on the deck just outside the porch. Decisions, decisions...
To paint the ceiling or not
To vault the ceiling or not
Dark floors or light?
Tying it in to the patio below...
Have skylights improved? Leaks? Dirt?
Stain the ceiling or paint it?
Where to put the fireplace so as not to obstruct the best view.
If needed to pass code, what's the best look? Iron pickets, wood pickets, wire, partial solid wall???
Do we want the kitchen on the porch? Considerations -- smells, entertaining, weather, extra expense for ventilation.
Shape of ceiling
Every porch needs a drink rail if you have a view from the rail.
A way to connect to existing structure without cutting into the upstairs space allowing also for potentially higher ceiling in porch.
Paint ceiling or not, vault or not, beams or not?
Porch doesn't look like an add-on. It goes with architecture of house...pickets/railing repeated.
Like the look of the fireplace and the amount of seating around it. Better to place the fireplace on the interior wall??
Kitchen on porch -- yeah or nay.
Does fireplace in center of wall enhance seating arrangement? Obstruct too much of view?
The exterior of this porch would go nicely with the style of the exterior of our home.
I like the design of screen window divisions...wonder what the ceiling height is to accommodate that pattern.
Fireplace - higher hearth or one you can sit on? Light ceiling with dark beams.
This looks totally open but covered. Do we want to use phantom screens everywhere, in some areas, or nowhere?
Grill against wall of house...better for controlling breeze?? Fire safety issues? What are the considerations.
Love the placement of this fireplace. Like the colors of the stone on fireplace and floor mixed with the house color and light ceiling.
What benefit does the corner fireplace add? Less view obstruction? Better for wind protection blowing ashes?
Don't think I like the coffered ceiling for our application...want it to look more "porchy" than interior.
This column design would look good with the exterior of our house.
Would love to use these folding doors open to give the sense of combined feeling between the indoors and the porch.

rose10e I would like to see the exterior views of these porches. It's hard to imagine doing it at our home without the corresponding views.

Karen Parham - KMP Interiors It would be nice to see the exterior views. You would have to contact the designers of each of the photos you're interested in to see if they might have them. These are not my designs, just my Ideabook.
