Modern metal. These metal beams add interest and break up the repetitive horizonal flow of the wood ceiling. Great for a contemporary ceiling treatment.

Red, white and pattern. The intricate latticework ceiling adds a reflective and bright quality to offset the deep red walls, adding balance and pattern to the room. It's a beautiful cap to the rich tones.

Look to the skies. Consider a series of skylights to draw the eye upward and brighten a space. Notice how the shape and direction of the skylights fall in line with the doorway at the end of the space, making for a cohesive and seamless integration of the skylights into the overall design.

Seeing stria (and stars). I love when a theme is carried out in really subtle ways. The nubby fabric on the chairs and clean, simple stria in the ceiling treatment are mirrored in the large-scale "stripe" of the birch tree wallpaper. Punches of red make the room complete.

Simply white. Painted wood and beams on the ceiling add architectural interest to this clean and simple bedroom. The room stays spacious, light and bright.
Chartreuse calling. Sometimes a simple palette needs a punch of color. This white room with touches of chrome and glass is really brought home with these strong chartreuse beams. The uplights in the beams bring an additional point of interest and draw your eye to the ceiling. (Like we'd miss it, right?)
Painted wood ceilings and stained beams are by far my favorite- classic style that never dies.
