Kimberly McCole made her dreams come true when she purchased a charming 1920s cottage in Florida and moved there with her family. Since the move, three and a half years ago, Kim's daisy cottage has turned into one of the most colorful, charming and inviting cottages I have ever seen.
Combining her love for colors, unique vintage goods and shop thrifting, Kim was able not just to create a warm and beautiful home for her family, but also to inspire thousands of readers as well as many magazines that fell in love with her lovely daisy cottage.
Visiting Kim's blog "dear daisy cottage" is also a special experience. While you listen to music selected by Kim, you can browse throgh many magnificent photos she is constantly taking and read her daily stories about her house, her DIY projects, her shop thrifting and of course about her cute beloved dog: Miss Maggie.
It's never boring in the daisy cottage. Kim's cozy rooms keep changing as she keeps adding new treasures she found in yard sales and thrift shops and rotating her old ones. It's my great pleasure to introduce you to kim and her
dear daisy cottage.
Please tell us about your “first meeting” with your house to be
It was pretty much love at first sight! From the moment I stepped on the front porch, I dared to dream that this house could become our home - a dream of mine that I’ve pretty much always had! As we sat on the porch swing, waiting for the realtor to arrive to show us the house, my mind was already spinning with what all I would do to make her ours.
Your favorite style and colors
I’ve always been a “cottage girl” at heart and love cottage style. While I enjoy many styles and gain inspiration from them, cottage style is what makes my heart skip a beat.
My favorite colors are red and yellow! No surprise there, right? ;-) They lift my spirits and I feel energized when surrounded by them. I admit, however, that I’ve really never met a color that I didn’t like! There are so many to use and enjoy!
A spot in your house that makes you very happy/proud
I can honestly say that every room in Daisy Cottage makes me happy but if I had to pick the spot that makes me the most happy and proud then that would be my office. It is there that I write my blog and share with my readers who are also my dear friends.
Your precious accessory/furniture/art
Oh gosh, this is a hard one! I really love all of my things, whether it is a thrift store item, an antique piece that my husband and I bought for a special occasion, or a handmade treasure! Of course those things given to me from family and friends – including my readers – are much loved and cherished! I am also very proud of my sister’s art and have several of her paintings proudly displayed in our home, including the one above our fireplace.
Your next house project
We are enjoying our new front garden and hope to tackle our back and side yard areas soon. We also want to build a TV cabinet for the “granny room”. I am thinking about painting our center hall and stairway in another shade of green soon. Oh, and one day we would love to replace our kitchen countertops and put in a farmhouse sink And of course there will always be something that I will want to spray paint in a fun color! ;-)
5 things that houzz readers need to know about your blog
1. It is my heart.
2. It is about our home, joyful little things, moments, and of course- Maggie, our dappled dachshund.
3. My readers mean the world to me.
4. They are always welcome at Daisy Cottage.
5. I hope that my blog inspires them to create their own
home-sweet-home; encourages them to embrace and decorate with their favorite colors; and most of all to have fun and be true to their spirit.
Kim, thank you for sharing your lovely daisy cottage with us!
Last but not least: as a houzz friend, you get to choose a giveaway gift to one of the lucky readers that will share their thoughts about your house and interview.
As my readers know, I am an avid thrift store and yard sale shopper, but I also LOVE Anthropologie! Every once in a while I treat myself to something fun from there.
I pick Anthropologie’s

day and get such great inspiration. I think one of my favorite stories was
about your "laundry" room! I think it would be so nice to be able to do my
laundry on a porch and enjoy the birds. I love the apron and would like to
be included in your drawing.
Daisy Cottage makes me smile !
Did you slipcover the wingback chairs in front of the fireplace? Cute!

Do you mind sharing the wine bar info? It is gorgeous! Did you paint it?
I also like your blog, great music and beautiful photos. Heading there to read more...
Victoria, yes I painted the wine bar red - it was a pretty creamy white before but I wanted it to have the punch of red. I left the drawers as they were though. :-)

It's amazing that you found all these treasures in thrift shops!
