| Great. Where are the doughnuts again? |
"All you have to do is plunk a few things in your computer...really, it can't be that difficult to have all 32 pages of revisions completed and ready for me to review by tomorrow."
If only my computer was a majical as they think!
Didn't you know, the computer does all the work? We are just here to turn it on and send to print. (pitiful sarcasm).
This 'lifestyle' (if you could call it that) is of course exacerbated by perfectionistic tendencies, but when so many people are looking at/critiquing/living in your design you have to ensure there are absolutely no mistakes. To some degree you are paid to 'make it perfect yesterday'-in another way your are never totally renummerated (for sleep deprivation, 24hr stress, ridiculous eating times that are bad for your health, having to miss out on previously arranged engagements at the last minute)
Still, I love the thrill!
My poor family don't understand how I could enjoy it even though I get so stressed.
I just heard about the book 'Living with a Creative Mind' by J & J Crabtree which is apparently 'a handbook for the creative person and for their friends, family and colleagues' and looks at issues like time and stress in the lives of creative people. I would be interested to know of any other books like this as I do worry about how this 'lifestyle' will affect my family and health in the long term.

Hilarious and spot on.
