These are Roman Blinds with a stripe. Notice how they are hung at ceiling height and drop to the top edge of the window thereby maintaining the entire view.
Plain Roman blinds - this is what I would recommend for you. Try Lewis's fabric "Stallion" colour "Eggshell".
Romans on all windows suit a modern interior because they are simple and plain but still add a 'soft' component to the scheme.
This is how Romans look when they are down - the curtains match in this case - as I would suggest for the living room doors.
This is a bio-fuel fireplace - very narrow, no heat generated, just the illusion of a fire.
Bio-fuel fire might work in your mock fire place
Bio-fuel fire place (can get these from The Fire Place in Wellington) Only about 100mm deep.
Bio-fuel fire place.
Here is a really similar fire place surround to yours. You could get an artist to paint a photo-realistic interior panel that looked like this, brick surround and logs set in place, a sort of 'still life' that fools the eye.
This is a typical paint illusion - the sort of trick that you could employ to make the fireplace look as if it is set with logs.
Trompe L'oeil Door Castel Corridor - $199
Paint illusion of a corridor - same principal.
Modern curtain heading suitable for use with Roman Blinds.
Islet style curtain heading would be good for your place - more modern looking than normal curtain heading.
Islets - also called "grommet" heading.
Islet style drapes - great in a modern interior.
Three little pendents... predictable and boring.
Large drum shades, very affordable and a bit more like 'living room space' rather than 'kitchen space' which I think is a good thing.
Three little pendents, more utilitarian than atmospheric.
Love these.... love the size and the transparentness - wood look great in your place against the feature wall with alcoves.
Designer light, very interesting, I've used before, looks great but you have enough detail already, this might be one step too far in designer features
Nice eliptical shape shade would work over your table.
These are simple, timber and great in your enviromnent too. They make wonderful shadow patterns and are available in a long oval shape that would work over your table.
Big sized shades look modern and more interesting than several small shades.
Nice size and shape shade- the sort of size I am thinking of for your place.
Another simple solution for your fireplace. Looks nice and you could change the script with different quotes from time to time.
