The most obvious place to see pillows is in the bedroom. The sad thing is that most people choose rather dull bedroom pillows because they think of these pillows in a function-over-form kind of way. When choosing bedroom pillows, choose pillow cases that are fun and that add to the decor of the room.
The above picture is how my bed looks; it has lots of pillows on it. However, a bedroom may look prettier when it only has one or two pillows on the bed. These fun fabrics are repeated in the sheets and curtains of the room. How flirty! I would need more pillows than this to be really comfortable but if I had a guest bedroom then I might decorate it this way and keep the extra (functional) pillows in the closet.
Pillows in kids' bedrooms serve another important purpose; they help to keep kids safe. These kids may be jumping around the room but chances are that if they fall then they'll land on one of the many pillows in the space. Durable, colorful pillows should be plentiful in kids' rooms.
Bedrooms aren't the only room that pillows should be confined to, though. Living rooms are a great place for pillows. I love how the bold chairs here are made even bolder with printed pillows on them. These pillows are super stylish, aren't they?!
Even a room that isn't so bold can really gain some personality when pillows are added to the seating area. In this case, the colors are neutral but the sheer number of pillows makes a great textured look for the couch. It makes me want to sit right down and enjoy it!
If you happen to have a fireplace in your living room (or in your bedroom for that matter) then you should toss some pillows down near it. After all, the only thing cozier than a roaring fire is cuddling up on a pillow by that fire!
Seating areas all throughout the house are perfect for pillows. A pillow under your bottom or behind your back can make any chair more comfortable. Choose pillows that also add a bit of bright color to the room like we see here.
Pillows don't always have to serve a functional purpose. They can also be decoration. I would love to see the pillow that's on the chair here moved to one of the stairs as a decor piece amidst the other items on display there. You could also frame great pillows in shadowboxes and hang them on the wall.
