Patriotic Interiors: All about the Red, White and Blue (4 comments)

View Slideshow
Everywhere I look this week, I'm inundated with stars and stripes - and I love it! The fourth of July has always been a favorite holiday of mine.

I'm getting in the red, white and blue spirit by looking for it in odd places. Together, the three colors make a strong statement, but even individually, the three colors have distinct personalities. Here are some great red, white and blue spaces that show off the best the colors have to offer:

In celebration,
A red bathtub is certainly bold, but this room isn't scary. The floral wallpaper softens the whole look. It's still very vibrant, though!

This red doorway is strong and bold. I love its sharp lines as well as its fantastic texture.

Red is a great complement to the natural green of leaves. In theory, it might look Christmassy, but in reality, it really pops.

Compared to vibrant red spaces, an all-white kitchen looks cool and refreshing. And clean - always a good characteristic in a kitchen!

White goes well with huge windows and tons of natural light. A couple of splashes of black really make this interior.

As with kitchens, I find white bathrooms clean and inviting. I love this floating sink - it makes plumbing look so cool.

And then there's blue. If red is fiery and white is cool, blue combines the best of both worlds. There are so many shades of the cool color that a blue room can be anything from soothing to outrageous.

I love this slightly green-blue - it's great with the old wood of the armoire. Plus, what a cool little window!

This waterfall of a color is perfect in the bathroom. I love the way tons of small tiles combine to create one cohesive look - it's like a Seurat.

This periwinkle color is fun and modern and full of energy - it makes the house so inviting. Can't you imagine this space all lit up - every night - with parties?
