Design is cyclical, but it's not redundant. We crave nostalgia: It helps root our identity, it reminds us of where we come from and it forms the emotional basis for our material histories. But as much as we love the past, we are creative beasts who need to impose new ideas to old looks. This careful juxtaposition has created the "new nostalgia."
Fashion design trends in fall 2012 are leaning toward pretty florals, edgy leather, feminine jewels and metals, and lots of bright, saturated colors. But the look also has restraint; too much of anything and it starts to look costume-y instead of hot. The same rule applies to interiors — building the narrative of a space maximizes the careful tension between the then and the now.

thecreativebeast Love the name for this stylish look: "New Nostalgia", though I'm not sure the kitchen has the same feel of 'new nostalgia' as the rest of the rooms featured in this article, but I will say its a fun filled creative design of a kitchen =-)
