| It's funny; I look at so many perfectly styled photographs all day that when I saw this one as a thumbnail, I assumed the log niche was a white-framed plasma TV, camouflaged by a picture of logs. This would not be a bad solution if you want a TV over the fireplace. However, even better, these are real logs, which add a rougher texture to the palette of woods in this beautiful open plan. |

Even if you manage to frisk the incoming logs for bugs and vacuum all the dirt and sawdust and loose bark from them. that pile is going to be insect haven because of the crevices between the logs for all other insects that find their way into your house.
And then what? How are you going to do pest control on an 8-foot high cockroach condo?
Picture 1 has me ROFLING ... where do these minimalist inhabitants hide the ladder it takes to get a log from the top of that niche? Or do they stand on one of the minimalist chairs? You can't pull a log from the middle without causing a log-alanche.
