Is your bathroom floor giving you cold feet? It may be because it's not quite living up to its design potential. Flooring can be a more tedious project to replace compared to installing a new vanity or swapping your shower curtain for glass, so it can be easy to ignore. But the right flooring will completely change the look of your bathroom, and likely prove a great investment come resell time. If you’re in the market for a potential re-do, walk through a few of these ideas; these chic options will surely warm up your design.

Frame the tiles. Just like a picture in a frame, tile will come to life with borders. Choose a different material for the frame than the tile to give it added dimension.

You might think it will look too matchy-matchy, but when done right, it becomes very contemporary chic. Think warm wood tones with varied texture vs. tiny tiles so it feels more sophisticated and less locker room. |

Complement the tile of your wall with a floor tile in a smaller scale. I know, you’ve heard it a million times: “scale, scale, scale,” but it really is the key to balancing so many looks in design. Don't worry so much about color (choose whatever you like); it’s really about getting the size of the tile right.

Get super-chic with herringbone. I don’t know what it is about herringbone floors, but I drool a little every time I see one. Notice how this bathroom is otherwise fairly simplified: the surprise element truly lies in the floor.
Go natural. It’s not very common that you find wooden floors in a bathroom, but one look at this photo will show you why it’s worth your consideration. This space feels like a warm and cozy den that happens to have a tub and a shower in its company. Remember, design is what you make of it. A bathroom need not feel like a bathroom!

I used polished carrara hex-tile in my guest bath and love how it looks wet when it's not.
I designed a sports fans floor using his fave team for the concept. It was made on glass tiles.. also another client loved Monets waterlilies and so I designed a ceiling with this theme.. it could easily be used as a floor too.
