There is one piece of furniture that I have never owned but which I have always wanted: the chaise lounge chair. I love these part-couch, part-chair places to rest and relax. They are stylish, elegant and indulgent.
Even the most modern design for a chaise lounge conjures up feelings that you've stepped back in time. These couches were popular back in the nineteenth century. Although they differ slightly from fainting couches, they have the same basic shape to them. Every time I've had the opportunity to sit in one, I've felt like a glamorous woman from another era.
I've never quite known how I would incorporate a chaise lounge into my home's design. Research into the different types of these chairs makes me feel like it wouldn't be too difficult, though. They come in both vintage and modern shapes, are available in a wide variety of colors and seem to be suitable for almost any room. The only thing I really need to worry about is whether I'd ever want to stop indulging in relaxation if I had one at home to lounge around on!

This modern chaise lounge is the type of chair that I'd be most likely to get for my home. It has the style of a chaise lounge but it's sleek in shape and neutral in color. This means that it fits into the design of any room. I love how thin it is since it's sturdy but won't take up too much space.

Here is another modern style that I would consider for my home assuming that I had the space for a bulkier chaise lounge. It seems large enough to actually fall asleep on which would be nice since I often have guests who stay over and need a place to rest their heads.
| If I ever have a room that's just a "fun room" then I'd want to get a chaise lounge that's more like this one. The color and exaggerated shape are just so enjoyable! I can see relaxing here while others in the room are doing art projects or playing games. |

This is the type of chaise lounge that really got me interested in these chairs in the first place. A vintage design like this wouldn't fit right in my own space but these chaise lounges are the ones that remind me of the fainting couches that I love so much.
There are many different places in the home that are suitable for a chaise lounge. I think one of the best places is right near the home's fireplace. Curling up on the chaise lounge with a book while the fire roars seems like something people did a hundred years ago and something I'd like to do today!

I really love the unusual placement of the chaise lounge in this living room. These chairs are usually worked into the layout with the rest of the furniture. Instead, we see here a chaise lounge that has been turned away from the rest of the space. It begs you to get some time alone even if you live in a crowded home!

The bedroom is a terrific place for a chaise lounge. You can sit here and read or write in the mornings. This lets you get out of bed without bothering the rest of the house. It's also great for people who are caring for someone who is sick; you can stay close to them in the room without getting into their beds.

The chaise lounge is particularly good for the multi-purpose bedroom. Many adults these days are sharing rooms with housemates so their bedrooms have to serve mutliple functions. The chaise lounge is ideal for that!

There are some chaise lounge styles that are designed for more masculine rooms. I can see this one working really well in a den or office space in the home, can't you?
| If I hadn't seen this design then I never would have thought of putting a chaise lounge in the bathroom. What a great idea! Your bathroom should be a sanctuary. An indulgent chaise lounge there adds another way to relax in this space. Genius! |
