| The open floor plan of this Austin, Texas, residence provides plenty of space for the dining table to be extended. |
Not nearly big enough for 14 to 16 during the holidays. I had someone take 2 pieces of plywood and make a 4' x 12' cover (piano hinged in the center so it folds up for storage) that I just sit on top of my table and cover with a tablecloth. Problem solved and we all fit around the table comfortably.
P.S: Kudos to 'Kandy' for coming up with a simple yet functional solution on how to extend her table when entertaining a crowd. Am definitely going to store the idea in my memory-bank. :)
It really is an amazing table. I would almost hate to set the table before everyone got a chance to watch it open and close.
Sheila -- last holiday I wrote an Ideabook on console tables that expand to become a dining table. A couple of those fold in a way that keeps the leaves in the table. Ideabook: 5 Instant Dining Tables
