Thank you for both of these suggestions.
I think that many couples struggle with where to place the flatscreen (I constantly hear the same discussion among friends).
We agreed to put our flatscreen in the corner of the room, on a small table. Initially my husband wanted it over the fireplace. I did not want it to be the FOCAL point of our room.
My sister-in-law build art work that closes in front of her flatscreen - and they open it up when the want to watch television. Otherwise, it remains closed and just looks like modern art. I will have to go to their home and take a picture - because I do find it quite clever!
