Houzz is the new way to design your home.
unexpected window, good light
corner door, unusual, though not sure about upper windows, then you worry about being kept awake by hall light
indoor outdoor transition
tile floor and wood ceiling is funny, also indoor/outdoor transition
cool idea, but better if partition was a book shelf?
don't like island so much, but bench in kitchen next to windows is a cool idea, and door to outside
i like idea of stand-up computer area, so you can get recipes from epicurious or check quick email/skype while cooking. margaret is skeptical....
cool pantry ideas for shelving
porch/veranday big enough to eat/entertain on
like this, cozy, with room for art as well as books and filing cabinets
narrowness feels right for a study, though this one doesn't seem to have space for books which would be essential for us
good bookshelf space!
ok, view unlikely, but idea of a comfortable, private room for reading that can also be used to for working seems cool, a bit different than narrow cubby-hole idea from other pictures. maybe reading corner off living or dining?
like idea of minimalist bookshelf, plus sloping ceiling and big windows cool. Again, not consistent with narrow idea, so recognize this is all conflicting!
this is a little different idea than we asked for from Antje, where dining is integrated into kitchen. divider idea is nice. we are torn between making dining more integrated with living or kitchen!
some separation of kitchen and dining with island, but still connected. like bay window idea (antje was allergic to those ,didn't feel strongly enough to override)
keep bedrooms pretty simple, don't usually spend time there for anything but sleeping, perhaps homework for kids
free standing bathtub where you can also take showers seems good. Don't need dual sinks, that seems a waste of space. good storage area for towels etc seems good
outdoor eating space good, though would need to insure shade to protect against ugandan sun. Generally we spent more recreation time on the patio in most of our houses in uganda than in any other room besides kitchen.
