| Lemon. When it comes to the heart of the home, yellow isn't just for a classic country-style kitchen. Cheery lemon-yellow makes any kitchen more inviting. Combining yellow, black and white is an exciting, stylish color scheme that always works ... and I'm totally loving the checkerboard flooring in this space.

| Acid yellow. The color combo in this space is what I refer to as "black, white and a touch of sunlight." Here, the yellow of choice is very saturated with a slight green undertone. Although this is a very bold color, its intensity is tempered by the surrounding black and white. See more of this house.

| Banana yellow. Warm tropical yellows are very complementary to neutral furnishings. Banana and brown is somewhat of a '70s retro color palette but it can also add a lighthearted twist to a more formal space.

| Medium yellow. To keep a yellow room from feeling too warm, add a cool complementary accent color, such as green.

| Saffron yellow. Deeper yellows take on a rich, golden appearance. Colors like saffron add luxury and elegance to a space. This spicy hue also creates a striking backdrop in rooms with a cultural theme, such as a Moroccan-inspired space.

| Dandelion yellow. If your child enjoys bright colors, yellow is a great choice for her (or his) bedroom. And when it comes to adding accent colors, the brighter the better. In this room, a dandelion wall color sets the stage for vibrant pink curtains. What a great room for creative, happy thoughts!

"LRV can be misleading when it comes to yellow. Yellow is one of the most reflective hues in the spectrum. In addition, the more area it covers it grows more intense exponentially. People err when choosing yellow more than any other color. They end up with a too bright Lemon Chiffon yellow that borders on needing eye protection to enter the room when they really were going for a softer, more muted Buttercream color."
