Imagining a Stylish Nest for Beyonce and Jay-Z
Today's Album Release Has Us Thinking About Glam Home Ideas for the Power Couple
Houzz Contributor. Hi There! I currently live in a 1920s cottage in Atlanta that I'll describe as "collected." I got into design via Landscape Architecture, which I studied at the University of Virginia. I've been writing about design online for quite a few years over at Hatch: The Design Public Blog.

Fashion, architecture, decor, technology, R&B and Hip Hop: Beyonce and hubs Jay-Z have it all covered. Beyonce's fourth album, 4, drops today, so in honor of that, I've put together some design looks and products I think the style icons will appreciate. Beyonce has come a long way since she was a youngster showing off her family home on MTV Cribs many years ago. Of course with any couple, sometimes design has to be a bit of a compromise. Not to worry, I'm sure we can find some rooms that these two moguls can agree upon. Maybe you can too:
If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it... The doorknocker-like rings on these chairs are in honor of All the Single Ladies.
This living room is a great compromise between masculine and feminine, with strong pieces like the elegant burgundy furniture, hefty mirrored coffee table and oversized classical urn artwork commanding attention. By the way, do you keep up on Jay-Z's site Life + Times? It's a great site for all sorts of inspiration.
This sleek bathroom is full of light and reflection, and due to the clear glass shower, large mirror, natural light and cantilevered vanity, looks like it extends for miles. The clean and open style, along with the sparkle makes it fit for superstars.
Details, details. Beyonce loves sparkly jewelry and sequins; why not apply them to the towel bar?
These two do not let an opportunity to be ultra-stylish slip past them, so I imagine a futuristic and slick laundry room like this one, complete with a laptop.
Beyonce can rock a patterned deep-wine skirt, so why not dress the bed with it (and a fur throw)?
I love this bedroom for the two of them. It's got a House of Deron-esque sheen, some Rocawear plaid, a bit of a Marie Antoinette vibe on that headboard and a Louis chair with a face on it. We'll order up two custom chairs; one for Beyonce and one for Jay-Z.
Fur and a Louis Vuitton tome will make a few luxury tastemakers feel right at home.
Beyonce's latest performance shots show her rocking a lot of fringe in France. Hence, a French salon full of long fringe is just the ticket for her.
Plus, the color palette in this room reminds me of an episode of MTV Cribs that featured Destiny's Child early on in Beyonce's career. The "genie in a bottle" room was one many little girls dreamed of after seeing Beyonce's family home. You can check it out about three and a half minutes into this video.
This elaborate and exotic room seems straight out of a Beyonce video. Just imagine it filled with dancers, perhaps with Beyonce being carried in by shirtless dudes on one of those Cleopatra stretcher thingees, perhaps while she's wearing this. It's a great update on the genie in a bottle room.
The couple's travels take them all around the world. They can bring a bit of Morocco home with them with a luxurious and exotic outdoor space like this one.
Closet designer Lisa Adams has scads of experience with singers and songwriters, and she'll be able to help the couple keep their couture in order.
According to Life + Times, Jay-Z is a Basquiat fan.
Jay-Z also recently endorsed vintage bus scrolls on Life + Times, so we'll order up some for their home, to remind him of the city that makes him feel brand new.
Check out Flying Junction on Etsy to choose from a variety of vintage bus scroll recreated prints.
Crystals to keep the Cristal fresh and bubbly.
Who doesn't love holding a door open with a block of gold?
The old Hollywood exotic allure of Tony Duquette is a great fit for the couple's decor.
The perfect glamorous pillow to put on a rider to make Beyonce feel at home backstage.
The reflective shine on this glamorous wallpaper would work in just about any room in the house, from the dining room to a walk-in closet.
This futuristic pendant light recalls this amazing dress Beyonce wore.
