I am looking for bedding for a lake home. In one room there is white wainscoting 2/3 the way up and the wall is painted red the rest of the way. I was thinking, maybe plaid. Or cherries?? I've looked at the regular places like pottery barn.

For true Cottage Beach style check out some of the Mermaid Cottages on Tybee Island that have been decorated by Jane Coslick. She did ours and we love it. I started a blog...just learning to tell about our adventure finding and decorating a Tybee Island cottage. I love this coastal collection and Becky is my favorite Houzz contributor. I also understand where deenarae123 is coming from. Of course there are people who can afford to pay $295 for a pillow and compared to most things referenced in the design world it's not much money at all. But it would be fun if magazines, houzz, blogs and all sources for design ideas would reference more affordable choices for the average homeowner who can't spend that (or more) on accessories. I subscribe to traditional home amd house beautiful, and I have for many years. But, I'm not going to renew because they are so off the mark for the average homeower. They don't even try to find reasonably priced items to reference or promote. Of course, I know they are paid to promote a lot of things and that is part of it. But, it gets old, especially in this economy when so many people are struggling. We all know about upcycling via craigslist and goodwill, but there has to be some middle ground.

If anyone is interested in a South Carolina artist for their prints, you might try looking at the Steven Jordan Gallery. He has some really nice prints of the beach area and some with umbrellas. Go past the prints that are a little odd, but seeing some of the prints above made me think of a few Steven Jordan small prints I have myself. Also might like to look at Morris Sokel furniture in downtown Charleston, SC for some really nice pieces. Not sure what the websites are but google them and see what you come up with. Good luck!

Connie, I've been following Jane for a long time and I love her. It's amazing what she's done for preservation - have you seen some of the "before" pictures of her projects? They are so inspiring!

Storklady thanks so much :) ! We writers have been adding our favorite products to houzz like crazy in the full range of prices, looking for bargains all the way to the complete fantasy products. I remember getting all of the high fashion mags as a teenager and having total sticker shock, wishing there was one article of clothing in Vogue that I could afford. One challenge I love is to check out a magazine spread of a beautiful home and then get the look myself with bargains from Target, Home Goods, treasure hunting at junky shops, antique stores, and sneaky things like a John Robshaw clearance sale on HSN ($19 for a pillow whose high end version usually retails for hundreds). I love the challenge of it.

I'm with Deena. That price for that pillow is humorous. I will say this, however, the design is perfectly 'beachy' and any one of us could find something similar for a reasonable price. We could also source fabric and make one ourselves. I love the suggestion. I love the design. Actually, I really love everything that is in this idea book! Cheers!

I've been having deja vu and I remembered why! There was lots of web buzz about Carrie Bradshaw's $300 pillow in the first SATC movie on the design websites.
