How to Design a Laundry Room
Houzz Contributor. Hi There! I currently live in a 1920s cottage in Atlanta that I'll describe as "collected."
I got into design via Landscape Architecture, which I studied at the University of Virginia. I've been writing about design online for quite a few years over at Hatch: The Design Public Blog.

If you are lucky enough to have laundry in your home, and even luckier enough to have a generous laundry room space, there are many ways you can utilize it to its fullest potential.
Whether it's room for ironing, storage space for detergents and supplies, or the ability to separate your whites from your colors all in one place, figuring out what you need from your laundry room is a great idea before designing it. Here are some great examples to guide you.

While there are many elements you should take away from this laundry room (a utilitarian sink, extra shelves, great lighting), what strikes me most is the gorgeous design. There are gorgeous tiles, bright colors, and beautiful flooring. This is the dream laundry room space.
Having natural light is a luxury in a laundry room. Also, you can hide a multitude of sins (including the fronts of the machines themselves!) with a simple curtain.
Ah! Bright colors, vintage pieces, counter space and even a jar full of clothespins makes this an ideal place to wash clothes.

If space is tight, you can incorporate your "laundry room" into your kitchen
Whoa! Is that a laptop for looking up stain removal tips? This is the laundry room of the future!

Here linens can be stored fresh out of the dryer!
I love the look of this beadboard, storage, and table - I think this is a bathroom but this aesthetic would work well in a laundry room.
Ah, ironing. The bane of my existence. It would be nice to keep the board right with the laundry. Instead of making some endless pile of items that in my case, would never be seen again, one could take them right out of the dryer and press them immediately!
This orange brightens up the dreary task of doing laundry! Plus, the shelves and the hanging rod make life much more organized!
