Outdoor Showers
Houzz Contributor. Hi There! I currently live in a 1920s cottage in Atlanta that I'll describe as "collected."
I got into design via Landscape Architecture, which I studied at the University of Virginia. I've been writing about design online for quite a few years over at Hatch: The Design Public Blog.

It is starting to get ridiculously hot here in Atlanta and it has me thinking of beach vacations. This makes me think of swimming in the ocean, which makes me remember dumping buckets worth of sand from my bathing suit in the outdoor shower after a long day of body surfing the waves at Nauset Beach as a kid.
There's a feeling of freedom with an outdoor shower. You're naked outside, even if you are blocked by a fence. You're going around the line for the shower in the one-bathroom cottage your family has rented. You're washing your hair under the open sky. Then there's the fun of reaching over the fence from the outside, stealing your brother's big towel and replacing it with a hand towel while he's in there.

It's a surf style shower shack.

| This is just ridiculously cool. Usually when an outdoor shower is involved, tramping through the grass in your towel to the backdoor is a part of the experience. |

This one only works if your neighbors are really far away, or if you're an exhibitionist.

I should have known my favorite house on houzz would have an outdoor shower!
Not a very long walk back into the house, but not much privacy either!
Love the tile work here!

| This house has an outdoor bathtub. Not a hot tub, a tub tub. I like this idea. I need to move somewhere where I can make this happen! It's like bathing in a treehouse! |

Shareen, I remember being very nervous in one in the Outer Banks once after someone told me that their cats would bring them little snakes from around the yard every now and then. That could turn into some sort of Garden of Eden/crazy streaking incident if things went wrong!
