Houzz is the new way to design your home.
front entry - interior
Necessities include: water resistant flooring (tile, slate, etc.), bench with storage space below, hooks for coats (NOT a closet). Front door will be used 99% by guests and often groups of guests at a time. Also, must include south facing light via door side windows. Please design with public vs private in mind; it is my experience that familiar guests do not stand at the doorway and wait to be invited to hang up their things before walking into the private parts of the house, rather, they “barge in.” I would like the entry design to obviously state, “please put your coats, shoes and belongings HERE before you proceed.”
This version seems to make the most sense. The benches are not hindered by a painting at your back or a door closing on you. There is room to put your bag down while you put on your shoes. I would still want benches with cubbies below and hooks on the wall. (This is way too formal for us.)
This one is nice and I like the dormer type windows too!
Don't want a long hall style entry, but notice the hooks up high on the wall for coats etc. (of course this bench is in the way, but I wouldn't do arrange it that way.)
good size, hooks are too low unless their guests are munchkins...
this is what I'm picturing - an entry that bumps out and the rest of the space is a rectangular open floor plan. But where are the stairs to the basement?
