Glamorous Dressing Rooms
What is it about a dressing room or large walk-in closet, all beautifully arranged, that just screams glamour and luxury? It says there is enough space to go around and some of the square footage can be spent on housing the owner's beautiful collection of clothing and accessories.
I love clothing...so much so that I ended up studying fashion design and worked in that industry for many years. During that time, a friend of mine lived in a very large apartment with a Jack & Jill bath off her bedroom leading into another bedroom. But was it used as a bedroom? No! Instead the walls were lined with custom floor to ceiling cabinets and an island placed in the middle of the large room, with endless drawers for accessories and jewelry. I think what really set this room apart were the two large windows with a window bench placed between them for seating. Add in a couple of full length mirrors placed on the back of the doors to the bath and hall, and this was a slice of paradise.

This dressing room is pure perfection, with a colorful rug by Marni at The Rug Company, an antique chair and the stunningly beautiful cabinetry to house all the finery behind closed doors. Including a built-in dresser always makes a walk-in closet seem luxuriously custom. To compliment the scene a trio of mirrors allow an outfit to be seen from all angles while being lit by a crystal light fixture.

This room, with its steeply pitched ceiling, looks like it is a corner tucked away at the top of a home. What a beautiful use of space that might otherwise go unused. There is a sweet romantic feeling to the closet, with the mismatched collection of items. A chandelier, table and chair, dress form and breezy drapes hanging at the window create a lived in, casual vibe. And speaking of windows, it is a true luxury to have natural sunlight pouring into a closet.
| What a proper dressing room this is. I can just imagine the owner of this space and the beautifully tailored collection of clothing that must hang behind the gorgeous cabinetry. The mirrored door fronts are very functional while the glass knobs add feminine sparkle to the design.
The all white room, with ample lighting, makes this a perfect place to select what to wear. Having room for a bench, providing a place to sit and lay out items of clothing and accessories, is both functional and a luxury. |

Rock and Roll meets feminine glamor, housing quite the chic collection of shoes in this example. I would love to see more of this space, but from what is seen I'm inspired by the idea of painting different pieces and styles of freestanding cabinetry with the same dramatic color to create a striking statement in a closet.

Where to even start with this divine dressing room! It reminds me of a room which belonged to a childhood friend, the only girl I knew who had a "designed" bedroom complete with a canopy bed in cream with pink frilly bedding. I was in awe.
The light fixtures in raspberry cast the most beautiful soft light with their color being repeated in the carpet, the fabric on the upholstered bench and throw. The glass knobs and crystal detailing placed above the doors add to the nearly over the top glamor of this room. This is a woman's domain to be certain.

And then we have the moody and mysterious. I would like to meet the person who would have a closet like this, I envision a women of extreme elegance.

This dressing room is just waiting for the right owner to move in and fill up the closets. The light is amazing coming from the ample windows, and pared with an oversized mirror, this is a perfect spot to get ready for any event. The hardwood flooring is rich and seems to be requesting a soft rug be laid over it, with a large round ottoman placed in the middle. Is this place for sale, where do I sign?

A wonderful closet doesn't have to be created from a room. Just look at this long passageway which houses a stunning closet, while leading to an outdoor porch! The use of the space is efficient, with open built-in cabinetry reaching to the ceiling, capped off with elegant crown molding. The open shelving is key here. If it was necessary to open doors to access items the space would become blocked, making it less functional.
The skylights illuminate the space, along with a string of elegant glass lanterns. With limited floor space, a small bench at the end of the hall provides the necessary seating to sit while putting on shoes.
As a final touch, the inlay around the perimeter of the floor accentuates and embraces the fact that this is a long and narrow space.

| This dressing room could suit a man or a women with its tailored detailing on the doors, and there certainly appears to be enough closet space for two. I would love to open the doors and see what is hanging behind them. The space has no other ornamentation, which works because of the beauty of the doors and the eye moving to the bathroom in the distance. |

A fresh clean look in pale wood feels modern while referencing the 50's. The pared down look is inviting but not boring with the addition of the bright spot of orange in the lamp sitting on the built-in dresser.

Margaret Everton I appreciate how the first photo is not only gorgeous but is luxurious while also being economic and functional in space. The vertical design accommodates that awesome mirror but also doesn't waste much floor space. Which is hopeful for the idea of smaller luxurious closets...

Danenberg Design A spacious dressing room is like your own private boutique. I love the first photo and the unique rug. There is a special closet in a master suite that is my favorite of the closets our team has designed in Northern CA. Also part of this same master suite is a spa-like bathroom with a stainless Japanese soaking tub. Sharing these photos below. Thanks for letting us have a look at your favorites.
