You can do a lot to make your home look great... but making it smell great can be just as important. I always get compliments on how our home smells, and I owe it all to these 20 scents. I like to light different candles depending on my mood and the season, and I have certain go-to reed diffusers that keep my home smelling its best. Take a moment to check out these favorites, then let us know your essential home fragrances in the comments below. — Bryn from Bryn Alexandra Interiors
This candle brings me back to my college days. I loved it back then, and I still love it just as much today. Maybe that's why I love home fragrances so much... scents evoke so many memories and warm fuzzy feelings.
I love this scent so much — it's fresh, clean smelling and not too overpowering. I use this reed diffuser in our master bedroom and both my husband and I love it!
This candle is pricey, but such good quality. It smells when you walk by, even when it's not lit. When you light it, the smell travels throughout the entire house. I like to light it right after I clean our house to make things smell really good.
I keep this reed diffuser right where you first walk into my home. Almost everyone that walks in comments how good our house smells, and I owe it all to this diffuser. It's a splurge, but it lasts for at least four months!
If you like candles that smell a bit "spicy," you'll love this candle. It's fresh, but also smells very unique. It's one of my favorites and it's great for the summertime.
I know — it's way too early to be thinking about Christmas, but I couldn't do an ideabook about home fragrances without mentioning this candle. This is the best smelling holiday candle I've ever smelled. I can't wait until November when it's acceptable to break it out!
This is a sweet, floral scent is good for an everyday candle. I love that NEST gives a portion of its proceeds to Autism Speaks. (I also love the deep navy blue container.)
You may think it's strange to have a countertop spray in a home fragrances round-up, but first and foremost I like my home to smell clean. This is a great countertop spray to use every night and smells wonderful!
You wouldn't think to get a man a candle, but both my dad and my brother love this one. They both are Earl Grey drinkers, and this candle smells like you just boiled a hot pot of tea.
My all-time favorite candle for fall. I won't burn it in the summer, but you will find me burning it every single day in the cooler months. It's sweet, spicy and I've had tons of compliments on it when it's lit!
If you don't like candles that are too strong, this scent is for you. It's also the scent of my favorite soap (by the same brand). It's beautiful, subtle, clean scent. I also love the gift box it comes in; there are so many uses for it!
I keep this candle in my office while I work. It's floral and girly but still fresh. It's also another budget-friendly option. It's only $20, but check your local Home Goods for deals — that's where I found mine!
Another candle I only burn in the fall and winter. The scent is sweet but also musky and spicy. I love lighting it in my office when it's chilly outside.
Judging by my ideabook, NEST candles are my favorite. I have at least five different scents — maybe more! I love this simple, floral scent for an everyday candle in the summertime... in fact, I'm burning it right now.
jode brown I love this post! I also ike Anthusa Okeanos, Aegean Sea Collection next to my bed. It's a really fresh scent that makes me happy as I fall asleep.
Erin Lang Norris Great post! Although my candle budget isn't quite what I wish it was, I think I'll need to buy a few after reading this.
I used to burn these great cashmere scented candles but they were discontinued last year. I was so bummed about it that I kind of forgot about buying candles altogether!
Willow Murphree Bath and Body Works used to sell a Firewood scented candle by Henri Bendel, my all time favorite (I liked their Fig candle, too). I was really upset when I discovered that they no longer sold them, but elated when I discovered I could order them online elsewhere. I quite seriously can't imagine my life without those candles in it. (:
acinterior My favorite is Votivo red currant too!!! Thanks for this ideabook. Now I have lots of new scents to try. Going to try diffuser in orange blossom, lilac, and jasmine first. :)
Kathleen LoGiodice Fong | Color and Design White Tea. I am still a sucker for this candle/ scent used by Westin Hotels. It is their signature fragrance and I heard it took years to get this right.
It makes me think of quiet and rest , white sheets and a very sumptuous bed.
It's clean yet alluring. I use the soap in my guest/ powder room and am always asked.. who makes that amazing leaf shaped soap.
I only wish the diffuser scent were stronger. It fades too quickly
debb v Wonderful idea book! I hesitate to spend $10 - $30 on a candle for myself without knowing if it's a quality candle that will maintain it's scent to the end and burn efficiently. I have a TRAPP 'Burmese Wood' that is also a nice, more masculine scent. Personally I don't buy any scents that make me think of food or I'm constantly hungry. A gift of a Sugar Cookie scented candle on a holiday actually made we want cookies so badly I had to give it away! My olfactory sense is so very motivating!
Melissa de la Fuente I love this list....always great info to have. I am wondering if one of them is your fave based on how well you think it works? Are any of them better at truly scenting the area than others, in your opinion? Thanks! :) xo
sfeazel Trapp Mediterranean Fig is my all time favorite!! So wonderful! I like Tyler St., French Market too, but it is a bit heavy....the Trapp Mediterranean Fig is my go to fragrance! Just bought some yesterday, buy them every time I see them!
Laura Zar About to sell my house...instead of using my go-to scents, I need something that is a crowd pleaser so I don't turn anyone off...any suggestions? Also, any Lampe Berger scent recommendations? I can't seem to find one I love.
Or natural cedar oil, or Mrs Meyerss Lavender: Mrs Meyers gets it right!

So many sound so yummy I can't decide!
Do you have favorite soaps you love?
YES!!! I love soap, too. haha! My current favorite is Pre de Provence "Wild Lily" :)
