Kirsten Grove's beautiful Idaho house photos were already published here at houzz a few weeks ago. After Kirsten posted her photos, we noticed that many members of the houzz community are saving the photos in their own ideabooks… No wonder- it's a gorgeous house!
We followed the mysterious stylish eclectic homeowner from Boise, Idaho and this is how we discovered Kirsten and her fabulous blog, Simply Grove.
It is a great pleasure to introduce you to Kirsten, a talented interior designer and her fabulous blog
simply grove.
Please tell us about your "first meeting" with your house to be
My husband and I decided to build for a new experience and to make it exactly what we want. We also decided to build a ways outside of the city so we found our lot while taking a drive one day and then we found out that the builder who owned it was a good friend of my husbands so it all worked out.
The first step of your remodeling process
My style constantly evolves so its amazing how even after only a year I was ready to update rooms. We moved in with all of our old furniture so thus began the out with the old and in with the new. I spent 4 months selling all of our old pieces on craigs list and ordering new pieces off the web and local shops. It was a long process but so worth it!!
The biggest renovation challenge you faced
Wallpaper....ugggg.
Your favorite style and colors
I love mixing old with new. I love whites and grays. I love seeing unexpected pieces is odd places. I love Scandinavian modern paired with a little bit of glam. I love mixing different textiles and textures. Does
that mean I am eclectic?? I guess so!
A spot in your house that makes you very happy/proud
Our latest project makes me proud! Our half bath needed some attention so we painted the walls a crisp white, wallpapered the ceiling and painted the mirror a bright yellow. I am in love with the result.
Your precious accessory/furniture/art
My mom recently gave me my Grandfathers upright piano that is in my office. It is by far the most sentimental piece in our home. We spent alot of time around that piano growing up.
Your next house project
Our studio/office. I want to repaint EVERYTHING! It is one of those spaces that I am so ready to change everything.
5 things that houzz readers need to know about your blog
1. I started Simply Grove because a few of my friends were beginning to grow tired of me emailing design products and projects to them that I had found so they suggested that I start a blog to use as an outlet. Thanks friends.
2. I am very aware that there are thousands upon thousands of talented designers and design junkies out there. In no way am I trying to compete with anyone. I do know that I have a great eye for design and I am who I am. If you like me, yay! If not, cool.
3. Diagnosing people's style is a favorite past time of mine. I perform what are called {Style Tests}. You send me 5 of your favorite rooms and I diagnose your style. Super easy.
4. There are many amazing spaces out there and I if I am able to find one that has not yet been discovered its like finding gold!! Soooo, if you have a space that you are hiding from the world let me know. wink wink.
5. My home is my blank canvas so projects around here never stop and I will always post them on SG in hopes to inspire my readers to be creative with there personal spaces.
Best tip for the remodeling beginner
