From elementary school classrooms, to workplaces, to kitchens, bulletin boards are an organizational staple. Unfortunately, they're also often boring and messy - not a great combination.
That doesn't have to be the case, though. There are lots of ways to make your bulletin board cute enough for public display - or to hide it.
When you're thinking about bulletin boards, take these factors into account:
1. Location. Will it be front and center in the kitchen? In the family room? Or better hidden?
2. Material. Often, covering cork with pretty material is the simplest way to make a bulletin board presentable. Of course, fabric isn't the only way to go - wine corks, ribbon and heavy paper are also good ways to dress up a bulletin board.
3. Frame. A fancy frame can transform a boring bulletin board into a work of art.
4. Shape. We usually think of bulletin boards as boring rectangles - but they don't have to be. Cork is easily cut into a variety of shapes.

I love this use of wine corks. I have a similar board in my kitchen (I purchased the kit from Wine Enthusiast) but this DIY just involves a frame (love this one), a glue gun and backing.

Numptybird - I like the writing on the inside, too. It was kind of out of necessity for me. When we got a new refrigerator - stainless steel - all of a sudden I had no place for my invitations. I have a wine cork board up, but I only want to keep photos on that, so into the cabinets it was...
The whole process took about 15 minutes and cost next to nothing, too. Couldn't ask for a better project!
