Bold and Beautiful Color Combos: Yellow, Black and White

I'm in Palm Springs this week and actually getting to walk through the gorgeous Viceroy Hotel I'd only seen in photographs had me falling in love with yellow black and white all over again. Designers have taken this electric combination and softened it, often with sophisticated and fun Hollywood Regency style.
Whether it's a bedroom, powder room, living room, hallway, or office, this is a color combination that can enliven your home. I love it so much I've used it in my own bedroom for the past four years and I have yet to tire of it. If you aren't ready to commit, a good trick is to create a base of black and white for the more permanent fixtures, and add the yellow through less permanent pieces, like throw pillows, lamps and/or lampshades, and bedding. This room is pure regency drama. The designer has used pops of yellow sparingly and it packs just the right punch!
This is a great example of how to bring in small bits of yellow. The only yellow in this room is in the lamps.
