Guest Picks: 20 Chic & Affordable Furnishings For the Living Room

Invest In a Few Key Pieces and Save on Others For a Chic and Budget-Friendly Look

I am always on the hunt for lovely and affordable furnishings for my own and clients' homes. Today I am showing some of my recent favorites.

I hope you like them as much as I do! — Monika from Splendid Willow
I have a serious crush on this bookshelf ladder! It adds a little bit of industrial feel to a living space and provides the perfect shelf to put books and plants on.
This Chesterfield-style couch is classic, timeless — always right. You get quite a bit of sofa for the price. I want it for my own home.
A leather Butterfly chair that won't brake the bank! Love the cognac color.
This unique metal table adds charm and character to any setting. It has been on my own wish list for quite awhile. I would use it as a plant table for only white orchids and/or some myrtle plants.
A cluster of white orchids on the plant table above: how lovely!
I have been looking for good and timeless armchairs for a couple of my clients. This one gets my thumbs up. Comfortable and handsome. I would use a different pillow, though, one with some pattern.
Since gray is one of my favorite colors, I am naturally drawn to these simple planting pots from IKEA. Very Scandinavian!
Love the design and also the color. This is a pretty and not predictable side table.
I am already tired of all the rectangle industrial "raw wood" coffee tables. Here is a pretty round one for a change and it almost has a retro feel.
This hand-carved tribal table has already moved in with me! I love it and it is so versatile.
I have found many great and affordable jute rugs at Overstock. I particularly like this bleached, handwoven one.
Best pillow cover in town! I like everything about it — the size, the texture, the strong pattern, the zipper and the price! (The insert needs to be purchased separately.)
Looking for handmade, lovely window treatments that won't break the bank? I found these lovely ones made of 100 percent linen on Etsy!

Wooden spheres are always wonderful accent pieces. These multi-sided "almost spheres" are just terrific.
This reversible black and navy blue throw is woven with a rich alpaca wool blend. I like good quality throws. And I have always wanted to go to Peru. Looks like a winner to me!
These baskets would make for perfect storage for magazines, books or firewood.
This apothecary-style floor lamp looks both classic and timeless, and is very affordable.

This lovely botanical print would work in both traditional and modern rooms.
I really like the idea of placing small black and white photos on this flat wall bowl. But it is also lovely as a decorative display on a table.
I must say that Restoration Hardware is producing many wonderful furnishings and objects at the moment, like this grandly-scaled sconce, a replica of an original that once illuminated a French architect's studio in the 1940s. Not cheap, but a fraction of what an original would have cost!

Camille If you are on Houzz now, than I'm definitely going to read it!
Great suggestions. I like the spheres best. Might have to go and order one now. Oh and the butterfly chair makes me dizzy with love. I need accents like this add edge to the antiques on my place.
