This room in the Brick House inspired this ideabook - I love the look of two tables in a social space. I also love these particular tables, especially the glass-topped one.
Noguchi tables are probably my favorite cocktail tables ever. I love the swoopy, iconic lines and the organic shape of the glass top. Plus, they make me think of impossibly good-looking, outrageously terrible Betty and Don Draper types drinking martinis. And that I really can't resist.
I love the look of this big, solid, block of a table - it's so substantial.
Two small, matching tables are a great idea in smaller spaces and spaces that need flexibility. I also like glass tables in small spaces - they give the impression of more room.
Ottomans are a great coffee table alternative for people with kids - and they work for grownups, too, with the addition of a big tray that's sturdy enough for cocktails.
This natural-edged table contrasts nicely with the sharp edges of the pale blue chair.
Sometimes, a truly traditional, classic table is called for - this one is just right in this space. I like the table's round shape, too. Its edges soften the symmetry of the room just slightly.
I actually can't quite tell if this table is tile, or woven, or if the appearance is just an effect, but I like how it looks...and both tile and woven seem like good ideas to me!
