safbham My creative space is filled with the things that inspire me. From items created by me to early American works and collected goodies. My space for creating is located in the lower level of our home and has a wall of cupboards perfect for keeping necessary supplies. A marble topped table provides a great surface to work on because spills clean up so easily. I had drawers put into the table for storage of dip pens, xactos, and items used daily, while the wall shelf keeps inks, glues and paints close by. With so much inspiration all around me, I really don't miss the fact that the room has no windows.

Yolanda I started working from home and needed an inviting office space that could also be shared with my husband. Our main challenge was books & clutter. I designed the built-in bookcase to include plenty of storage and space for photos and whimsical objects. I added a gray-stained countertop to break the white monotony. We completed the room with matching desks in mirror and white lacquered surfaces and warm gray walls. Now room looks much bigger and makes the work more enjoyable.

Maureen Stevens My mini-home office is in a little corner in our bedroom. We live in a small condo so organization is a must. Functionality shouldn't deter one from showcasing their favorite things though. Amidst books, file trays & folders, there's a few {or a lot of my favorite things} here: hobnail milkglasses I'm using as vases, a vintage postcard from one of my travels, phrenology heads as bookcases and yes, an antler I actually use as a stress-reliever {hey thye work just like stress balls...call me weird :)} and a vintage birdcage hung from above.

Linda Medina Interior Design I recently moved my design studio home after doing a major remodel. We carved out the the dirt-filled space under the house at street level and made it into a 500 sf office. I created an office bathroom with a 'walk in shower'. The office and bath can be converted to an accessible space that can be easily be converted to additional living space for the future!

Roberta Philbrick My husband and I both work from home so we've had to be really creative when it came to incorporating our desks into our small home...al 687 sq.ft. My inspiration board is a small wall between the kitchen and living/dinning room/my office that is actually the entrance wall into the bedroom which I painted with black chalk and magnetic wall paint and added white ledges to hang and display my inspiration on.

Full Circle Interior Solutions As an interior designer and craftsperson, I really needed a place that was well organized, free of clutter (as much as possible) yet colorful, beautiful and inspiring. So, earlier this year I gave myself the task of completely re-doing my studio/office. Completely re-arranged the furniture, re-used the same pieces I had and put them in new places. Changed the color of the walls, created a new layout, painted a mural and added inspirational words and quotes in the walls and in my work surface, just to name a few things. I'm pretty pleased with the results, although it always a struggle to keep it as organized and clutter free as it started. Susan E. Brown Interior Design My interior design office -- I love my brick wall! I also love finding new uses for "found" objects like the rolling cubby for my samples, and the antique Asian screen to hang pics of my projects.

CAROLE MEYER My home office is rather unusual I think. In our new home we have an elevator shaft from the basement to the second floor. (just in case we get feeble, or more feeble and need it installed we are ready!) So to make use of the space on the main floor I decided to put my "office" in this elevator shaft. Gail Here is my temporary office. We are still in construction around here, this area is on the list to be redone. I wanted to share this with you because of the shelf with the cubbies, it used to sit on the back of the desk. The desk is comprised of an antique desk, drawers pulled out and some wood spread across to hold the key board. Then a top made to span the desk and file cabinet. Another end table to hold the tower of the computer. When we moved the desk to this area, I wanted the shelf on the wall. It holds pictures of my children and grandchildren. The wall behind the desk is tin, so I use magnets to hold more pictures and a couple of magnetic hooks to hold business cards. I know this is not pretty, but it works, it is at one end of the livingroom, I do have grand plans for it someday, but for now, it will be as is, since this is not the most important project we are working on.

annettetatumstudio I find that the workspace is often the most interesting place in the house because it not only holds possibilities but reflects what we really love. There is nothing more fabulous than a random bulletin board or wall to get the creative mind flowing. I have a wall in my office that is filled with all the images I love.. it never gets old or outdated. On the opposite wall in my office I hung wires where I can add and subtract ideas and inspiration. It is forever evolving and becoming new. Ribbons I like, fabric scraps that I have found, antique bits and notions.

Marcia Here is my creative space, a turn of the century milk house that I have converted into a guest cottage and art studio. It's very small, but by using vintage suitcases and an amour for storage and labeling everything, I can easily find what I need and create!

lwarren2 We wanted a hobby/gift wrapping/dance-practice room. This Whalen 8' steel work bench with a 1 3/8" butcher block top seemed to fit the bill for only $200 from Costco. Can't beat that. The large stainless cabinet underneath the work bench houses my husband's butterfly collection. The adjustable legs on the workbench allowed us to squeeze the butterfly cabinet underneath to save on space. We still have room for a portable dance floor that we snapped together. Since this was formerly a bedroom, we used the closet to house gift wrapping supplies. We repurposed an old dresser by positioning it inside the closet and using the drawers for hobby supplies.

Pondered Primed Perfected My office/craft room...not quite finished. The cabinets were free and my handy husband helped paint them.

leslie This space is supposed to be a dining room but I have created a gallery of my husband's art on two walls. I used to have a bench centered under the windows but have recently added a desk for my home office. I had a door from an Asian market leaning against one wall so I repurposed it as a desk top using a couple of bases from IKEA. I love the unique storage they create.

Diane Henkler I took the room that was for the Formal Living room in my house plan and made it my studioffice. Since we have a family room - this room was not needed for it's intended purpose. I spend most of my time here. It is sunny and bright space that is part of the main living area - which I love.

Design Had I known I would be working from home, I would have designed my pre-fab just a little differently, but as it is I have loads of natural light and a beautiful view to inspire - and often distract - me! hudsonbeebe We carved out a little space where our fridge use to be. We moved our kitchen to an old bedroom at the back of the house and the old kitchen became our pantry/home office.

letreo This is our Art / Design / Kid's / Office / Sewing / Painting Room. Yes, it's unfinished and done on the cheap. But we absolutely love this room. It's ok to make tons of messes and the bright white floor and walls keep our basement room bright and fun.

Heather Davis We sell residential real estate in Oklahoma City and wanted to have a great space to work out of when we are home. Our house had a cabana that was unused as the pool had been filled in by previous owners. We completely transformed the space and accentuated the colors of the existing brick wall and the colors from the courtyard that this room overlooks. All of the furniture was custom made and the studio table was a replica from Pottery Barn with the cubbies but we had an onyx top instead of wood. The pendant light helps make the room feel creative and the bar for coffee or evening drinks during early or late working hours. This is our haven from the hustle and bustle. A half bath is not shown but a part of this space.

I used various IKEA products and a wonderful IKEA hacker person to help me design a home office and jewelry studio. Custom cork boards were made by www.PushPinsAndFabricCorkBoards.com and are invaluable for showing earrings etc. Plain old painted closet bars for hanging bracelets and necklaces. Used IKEA to design custom kitchen and laundry room as well. Wonder if Houzz would consider doing high end IKEA ideabook. Thanks for this ideabook and for the site. So helpful!

bebong benoot this is our home office. i designed it myself and did most of the hard work like stripping wallpapers and painting. it used to be a very dark space with dark walls, dark ceiling and dark cabinets and blue linoleum floor. i wanted to re-use our existing furniture so i tried to incorporate them to the design without making the place looking outdated. i hope i succeeded.

Hannah My home office...taken a few months ago. I LOVE my space so much! My fav pieces are the rug [a steal at JC Penney!], the ghost chair, the inspiration board [kind of empty in the photo but completely filled up now!], and the mirror!

FOCAL POINT STYLING Our shared Home Office has evolved into a blogging & designing think tank! Although I started off by using our black bookcases along one wall to display a B&W photo collection of NYC, it's now become a personalized mix of the photos, books, collectables and storage boxes from Ikea to conceal some clutter. To personalize the space even more, I added a dress form displaying my favorite oversized B&W rose pins, pearls and rocker chains =) Great post and love looking at everyone's office oragnization style & ideas! Katya Popova Our office found its home in a niche (ex-closet) left by the previous owners. We painted the back wall with charcoal magnetic and chalk board paint.

miajohnson The living room of our 100 year old house is the office for http://www.kitsmedia.ca our website design company in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver BC. Three people work here. The windows are small so I used lots of mirrors and glass. The walls were painted this beautiful Benjamin Moore yellow-green colour four years ago and it's become our trademark. Ikea boxes keep files out of site and I use glass paper weights to hold down work in progress. Enjoy!

Janet This is my home office, sewing and crafting room( garage make over). I also enjoy a little bit of photography I am also an organizational freak ( everything has to have it's place) I enjoy making pillows and cushions and re-purposing old furniture. Chairs are garage sale finds that I painted and reupholstered, my inspiration wall with my cameras and folding tables with storage underneath. There is a lot more I would like to do in the room.

Janet This is the other side of the room, the office area and some of my craft. I absolutely love this space that I created with a little help from my hubby, it's where I spend most of my time....we are working on changing the wall color to a more refreshing and inspiring color ( yellow, since most of the funiture is black and the garage door ( can't change it because of city codes in our area) and tables are grey...
