This is what the view to the living room would be if we took out the top cabinets in the kitchen. If we made it kind of a ledge a little above the lower cabinets. We could also put bar stools if we took out the lower cabinets too.

I like how it's open on both sides of the island. I like it with the doorway at the corner. It feels more open with the island not attached to the countertop, like in the plans. I want the sink in the island and I want part of it raised so we can use bars tools.
