My father, a physician and WWII veteran (flight navigator in Europe) was also a painter who was passionate about his art. He and my mom were also great fans of the work of New Yorker cartoonist James Thurber, so I grew up surrounded by his books and art. My Dad showed me the work of classical artists and told me never to give up and never to compromise my vision.
As a sophomore in college (Theater Arts, University of Southern California) I had an "aha" moment, when I realized I didn't want to just be an actress. I opened the school newspaper and saw a student's cartoon strip. I thought, "I can do that." I drew up a...

Every Christmas tree reflects its owner's personal taste, whether it's modern rustic, bohemian glam, steadfastly traditional or urban micro. Take a look at these tree styles of our times and see if one fits you.
trasgorshek Oldbobbi, you always crack me up!! I was wanting to ask you if you've seen Groovygranny post anywhere? I haven't seen her lately and was just wondering.
olldroo I'm here with jingle bells on. Just like to keep you all on your toes, thanks for missing me. Afraid I'm a no tree this year, too buried in renovations. Visited daughter today who has another variety for you - the half dead tree!! It has been so hot here (33 deg today) that the tree is wilting fast, no amount of watering works in this heat.

aquamorning We have been almost all of the above in many years together in live and petroleum based materials. The micro unit in our first apartment consisted of a tree that looked like a branch, the colorist in the eighties with a white and coral tree matching our LR decor, the DIY-er holding the tree up with a rigging made out of all form of wires and strings, the Dreamer with netting and angels galore, the Minimalist with 1 yes, I said ONE decoration (a friend has since run with that idea), and am presently the Anglophile, rather traditional, permitting only decorations representing whoever, or whatever was present at the original nativity scene. Still having fun after all these years.
