Mirrors have come to mean much more than the original 'looking glass.' They are now a part of the decorative scheme of a modern home. By using them, there are no dark, gloomy corners, no drab caverns for halls. There can be a feeling of freedom, light, air, space.

Yikes, I started out with a good quote that I cannot begin to top with my own words. The venerable Ms. Draper actually wrote the copy for a decorative mirror catalogue and titled it "Seventy-Seven Recipes for Mirrors in Today's Living." I would love to get my hands on that one and apply the quotes to houzz pictures, but that's not really how I roll here. Anyway, let's take a look at how the experts have chosen and placed the perfect mirror in a variety of spaces, shall we? Seventy Seven? Double Yikes. The circular mirror is so great against the reflective striped tiles. I like that its border blends in with the tiles - this space is not all about the mirror , it's about the tiles and the hot pink chair.

SGO Designer Glass of Loudoun Virginia Nice photos and information on mirrors and framed mirrors. What do you think about Antique mirror products? They can be quite exciting and tone down the brightness of plain mirror glass while retaining the same open feel. Attached is a photo of a project I did using antique mirror to create a faux transom. The colors in the mirror reflect beautifully the colors in the adjacent rooms.

j r Awesome post. I hate looking in mirrors (yeah, issues, I know) ... but these provide some great reasons for adding more to my home! Love EVERYTHING about that bath w/ the pink chair and reflective tiles. And the faux transom is great idea. Truly inspiring.

stanslovie I just refinished this old mirror that my sister was going to throw out. It was really easy and really looks great in my house. I also did another one that I painted blue and distressed it also looks great. I love mirrors and you can find them really cheap at yard sales and refinish them very easily.
