I love the pop of color with the chair and the phone. This is also a great idea for creating the small workspace downstairs perhaps near the foyer.
These wall units have a cherry finish, adjustable shelves, and lighting comes installed at the top. We could put these on either side of the fireplace and do the mantle style, Bob likes, with a cherry finish as well. Using wall units like these are a more adorable and flexible way to design the sitting area.
This dining room table has 2 10" leaves and can seat up to four. It has a cherry finish like the wall storage cabinets.

The style of this eating area is too modern but the concept is similar to the one I was thinking of for your eating area including the L-Shape bench under the windows, a round table, and two chairs.
This is not the same size but has a more suitable traditional style that I was thinking of for your eating area.
The materials in this photo, including the bench seat, are similar to what we are thinking of using for your remodel with one exception. The floors in this room are very dark and I was looking at a mid-tone for your flooring.
I love these roman shades. They give a little bit of color but are still classic.
