The fabulous IKEA 2012 Catalog just came out and here is a list of things that everyone needs in their kitchen from it. These things are useful, handy, cheap, simple and will make your cooking experience easier. — Ewa from Delishhh
FAVORIT Grill pan - $39.99
Everyone needs a grill pan to fry things on. This one is thick, large and easy to clean, and you can't beat the price.
LAGG Trivet - $1.99
When you have a hot pot you need a trivet, and why have something ugly on the table? Use this simple, cool and stylish trivet instead. I love it. Plus, it makes as awesome decor on the dinner table.
DRÖMMAR 14-Piece Pastry Cutter Set in Box - $5.99
I like to have my cookie cutters contained and neat. This set is perfect. Not only does it have most of my favorite shapes but it is easy to clean, and all contained in this nice little box. Everyone should get one.
MIXTUR Oven/Serving Dish, Set of 4 - $9.99
Love this. Ever have guests over and need to have your dips warm and ready? Just place this in the oven and when they arrive take it out and serve as is. No mess, no moving to another serving platter.
DRÖMMAR 2 in 1 Springform Pan - $9.99
Why do we need a cake form and a bunt cake form? Why not just have one that can be either? Love this — it's a great space saver.
IDELIG Mixing Bowl - $9.99
This is one of my favorite mixing bowls. It has a rubber base, so if you are using your hand mixer or anything else to stir, the bowl will sit in place and not move around. I can't use any other bowl now!
UPPENBAR Measuring Cup - $4.99
I cook from both European and American cookbooks. I hate converting measurements because it is never accurate. Instead, I love to use this measuring tool and use the metric systems for my European cooking and the American side for the American system. So much easier than trying to convert!
UTMÄRKT Whisk - $0.99
When you are making a sauce, you need to scrape the bottom of your saucepan and keep stirring; since this whisk is flat it can do both perfectly. I have no idea why the design isn't seen more often.
SMAKA Cheese Slicer - $5.99
I am a cheese lover and usually buy a big block of cheese then shave off thin slices for my sandwich or crackers. Well, there is no other cheese slicer that works as well as this one. Every cheese lover needs one!
IKEA 365+ IVRIG Wine Glass - $3.99
Stem glasses always break, so I love the idea of having wine glasses without them. These are nice and cheap.
SYDLIG 2-Piece Salad Server Set - $1.49
All my wood salad utensils break or crack after awhile. These are plastic, look cool and work great — perfect decor for your salad.
POKAL Glass - $0.59
Everybody needs good, solid drinking glasses. These are for everyday use and if they break it's okay — they're only 59 cents! I have tons of these and they have lasted a long time.
RARITET Cheese Dome - $4.99
If you are a cheese lover you need a good place to store your cheese. This is what I use and it works great — no more foil or plastic bag mess. Just lift the lid, take your cheese and place it back inside and into the refrigerator when done. It's also very easy to clean.
Tekla Dish towel - $0.79
If you are a cook, you need kitchen towels that you can make a mess with — not ones that you hope you will not destroy or stain when you make that curry. I use these for everything, and for 79 cents each you can't beat the price.
TRYGG Serving Bowl - $2.99
Serving bowls need to be simple, elegant and not go out of style. This one checks all those boxes. You can use it for salad, appetizers or anything you like. It just works!
SMARTA Pie Plate - $7.99
I love this dish for making pies. It is simple, clean and has nice fine lines. Any pie looks delicious in this piece.
STRÅLANDE Grater with Container - $5.99
When I need to quickly grate something I end up doing it on a cutting board or in a bowl, and then I always tell myself I need a grater with a container. Well, here it is! Just want I'm looking for.
IKEA 365+ IHÄRDIG Spice Jar - $3.99
This is what I use to organize all my spices as I don't like to have spice containers in different shapes and colors. This makes everything organized and gives things a clean look.
SOCKERKAKA Baking Mat and Knife - $9.99
Who doesn't need one of these? Use one of these baking mats and after you make your pastry you don't have to clean up your counter with crispy or sticky dough.
