TREND ALERT: A Horse is a Horse of Course....
Houzz Contributor. Hi There! I currently live in a 1920s cottage in Atlanta that I'll describe as "collected."
I got into design via Landscape Architecture, which I studied at the University of Virginia. I've been writing about design online for quite a few years over at Hatch: The Design Public Blog.

While equestrian style will always be a classic design tradition, inspiring Hamptons Ralph Lauren style, I've noticed the horse itself taking the spotlight in design lately. It makes me smile, as my grandmother, who was raised on a farm, always had horses images all over her home. Another horse image that will always make me laugh is thinking about Tony Soprano and poor old Pie Oh My, and the painting he had made that Paulie Walnuts took from the dumpster and had painted over, but again, I'm letting my HBO addiction show through here.
Has anyone noticed the oversized close ups of horse faces showing up in spreads all over the place lately? I keep swearing it's the same photograph until I hold them side by side. They are just incredibly similar is all. Here's a look at some horses that have been trotting through houzz lately.

This is a perfect example of the kind of horse photo that is the art du jour of which I spoke. It is striking - I love the way it is lit and the oversized scale - it is definitely the star of this room.

I've seen my friend Suzannah move this cool horse painting around her different homes and stores for many years and it ALWAYS works.
When you have these on your property, everyone will be able to find your house. You can just say "turn right just after the sparring horses."
You can always go classic with a pair of horse prints.

Love the unexpected golden zebra rug paired with the horse painting here.

This small sculpture gives this bathroom personality.

There's something a bit Trojan about these horse sculptures at Global Living.
You simply cannot go wrong with a rocking horse in a child's room. Girls will grow up dreaming of their friend Flicka, boys will want to be cowboys.

I am bananas over this piece - at first glance it has the quality of a blown up film negative. Check out how well it works with the FLOR rug tiles.
These horse sculptures were made for this lofty, barn-like living room.
