Square pavers set in dark crushed stone
boxes across front of house would help accent the horizontal lines as well as emphasize the zen of the modern structure.
good example of using raised planters in a rythm consistent with the lines of the house.
Looks a bit like Andrea's first plan
more like what I had in mind - at least in front of the windows.
Use of crushed stone mulch
Seasonal color added by using potted plants in flower beds
natural look and use of crushed stone
pots with seasonal color
repetition - simple pattern that emphasizes the clean lines of the house
I prefer this natural look for flowers rather than more formal types
Bad example - repetition and geometry gone too far. This would have looked much better with more natural plantings.
nice use of sedges
Too sparse - and too close to the house. Would be better if planting strip on other side of walkway.
Too much patern - looks like bad hair transplant job. Hydrangeas too formal for my taste - although an oakleaf variety would be ok.
