The Thinker. Carve out a quiet corner in the room, complete with desk, corkboard walls, and an inspiring view for your scholastic achiever. Having a dedicated space to plan his next big move is a dream come true.
The Entertainer. If it feels like the neighborhood's most popular tween lives under your roof, he probably does. Give him space in his room to entertain friends, whether it's just for the afternoon or for a sleepover. A bunk bed serves double duty as a sofa, and the dual desks are perfect for intense study sessions. When he becomes a teen, just remove the toys and the room functions the same.

The Neat Freak. Tightly tucked and pulled together, this young man tends to be somewhat of an anomaly in his age group. Interview your child about how he likes to organize his belongings to provide the perfect balance of open and closed storage.
As for my tween son, legos and video games are 2 of his favorite things as well (not to mention soccer, skate boarding, surf boarding, karate and gymnastics), however given his mathematical and mechanical inclinations, he would love to become an architect. I have been trying to decide on a theme for a wall mural, as well as the rest of his room, however given his wide array of interests (that may or may not endure with his age), I could use all the ideabook inspiration I can get! Thanks Erika!
Thanks aprilaries and tammy_institches for your comments!
Your room sounds great! My son is also a rock hound, gamer and loves lego. I have been thinking of an industrial room involving rock and natural surfaces. Would love to see your room if you are willing to share when it is done!
Erika- thanks for the inspirational post!
These days guys need space for their computer, gaming console, phone chargers, school books, favorite knick-knacks, hobby equipment, etc. All the designs above are truly beautiful, but besides a couple of examples, I don't picture a real teenager guy feeling it like HIS space--unless some of these teens already left for college and this is the new guestroom ;)
Designs from PBTeen are very cool too and look made for real teens (http://www.pbteen.com).
